Second City to open musical celebrating governor’s impeachment trial
Will Rod think this is a sham too?

Finally, Blago has given us all something to be proud of: A musical.

It was only a matter of time. The just-announced musical extravaganza Rod Blagojevich, Superstar! is coming to Second City's e.t.c stage, written by Ed Furman and T.J. Shanoff over the course of two weeks after it was pitched at the Second City holiday party. You can probably guess from the title that the musical is a lampoon of ’70s rock operas with an emphasis on Jesus Christ Superstar, with Rod and Patti taking the place of Jesus and Mary Magdelene and folks like Roland Burris and Lisa Madigan taking the place of the apostles. Hopefully they’ll work in some Joseph And The Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat and some Godspell in there, too.
The show will run Tuesdays and Wednesdays at 8:30 p.m. beginning Feb. 3 at the Second City e.t.c. Reservations can be made at 312-337-3992.
