Struggling actor Tom Hardy to star in Al Capone trilogy Cicero
He's got the menacing stare down.
With his recent success in Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy and his upcoming role as the mumbling Bane in the inevitable box office hit The Dark Knight Rises, it’s not surprising that Tom Hardy is setting his sights on another major film. He recently announced that he’s preparing for a potential role as Al Capone in Warner Bros.’ Cicero. The project will follow the mobster’s ascension in Chicago’s Prohibition-era underworld. How Hardy will be transformed into the pudgy-faced Capone is anyone’s guess, but it’s sure to both delight and disgust fan girls everywhere. The Inception actor has been watching old gangster films starring James Cagney and Humphrey Bogart for inspiration for the biopic, which won’t be released for another couple of years.
Slated for direction by David Yates, Cicero might follow in the classic Yates/Warner Bros. tradition of multiple installment films with rumors already circulating of the project being broken into a trilogy.
