Since sifting through dull newspapers, hyperbolic blogs, and overflowing RSS feeds for meaningful news can be an arduous process, News Net catches and compiles both the amusing and the significant reports that were overlooked throughout the weekend. Here are some things to think about as the workweek begins.

• The Bears did not participate in the Super Bowl Sunday, but they do have a 17-to-1 chance of winning it next year—so they’ve got that going for them, which is nice. As for the festivities yesterday, there were a few highlights. First, after losing the big game, Tom Brady almost began to cry before remembering he has a super hot wife and millions of dollars. Second, Madonna was encouraged to bring about world peace one self-glorifying performance at a time. Lastly, ad agencies working on their Super Bowl commercials once again came to the consensus that dogs sell shit.

• Did you know Rosie O’Donnell has a show filmed here in Chicago? And some people actually choose to watch it? Apparently not enough people, as Rosie’s show isn’t doing so well.

• Cops busted up an illegal shindig on the West Side Saturday. The unlicensed nightclub, located in the 3400 block of West Lake, goes by the name Cash Money On Deck and was run by a group known by the same name. Police seized thousands in cash and arrested eight people. Shots were reportedly fired.

• A Naperville teacher and recent North Central College graduate is dead after being stabbed at a nightclub in downtown Naperville this past weekend. Witnesses said the altercation began when someone taunted a patron at the bar for wearing a tight shirt. A man has been charged and is being held on $3 million bond.

• A memorial for Don Cornelius will be held Wednesday at the Museum Of Broadcast Communications.

• The plot thickens in the ongoing Lollapalooza tax exemption saga.

• Roosevelt University is offering an “Occupy Everywhere” college course.

• Those into tattoos should check out the I (Heart) Ink exhibit at the Chicago Photography Center. The show opened this past weekend and runs through Feb 24.
