The Hideout Puts Your Inauguration Party To Shame

Barack Obama If only we knew what these people were looking at.

The Hideout crew are such fans of Barack Obama that they plan to join the hoards of people traveling to D.C. for the inauguration. Along with nonpartisan political activist group Interchange, The Hideout will be exporting a Chicago-styled party out east for a show before the inauguration: The Big Shoulders Ball: Chicago Celebrates Change., held at The Black Cat in Washington D.C. Jan. 19, will feature such notables as Tortoise, Andrew Bird, Waco Brothers, Jon Langford, Sally Timms, Ken Vandermark, Freakwater, Icy Demons, Judson Claiborne, and several others. You can even don big shoulderpads for the occasion, since the Hideout staff encourages everyone to wear the best thrift-store rejects from formal proms and weddings past.

Tickets are $50, go on sale after 4 p.m. today, and can be purchased at The Hideout (in person) or at The Black Cat (on the interweb). Some of the proceeds will go to fund Chicago Public Schools marching bands, so buy a ticket and sleep a little better knowing you helped a child discover his passionate love (or distaste) for marching whilst playing the sousaphone, contrabass, bugle, or fifer.
