Thom Yorke announces short U.S. tour with Atoms For Peace

Until now, Radiohead frontman and aspiring journalist Thom Yorke's newest band—featuring longtime Radiohead producer Nigel Godrich, Beck drummer Joey Waronker, percussionist Mauro Refosco, and Flea—had been mysteriously billed as "????" for the upcoming Coachella Festival. While that title epitomizes any Radiohead and Flea collaboration, Yorke jumped onto the Dead Air Space blog today and announced the band's new moniker is Atoms For Peace, also the title of a track on Yorke's 2006 solo record The Eraser, and the name of an Eisenhower speech on peaceful use of nuclear power. Big surprise.
Better news: Yorke and his cohorts will play shows outside of the Coachella desert, with an eight-date U.S. tour set to hit Chicago's Aragon Ballroom on April 10-11. Tickets for the first two shows at New York's Roseland Ballroom go on sale March 2 via the Radiohead website. Tour dates:
April 5: New York, NY - Roseland Ballroom
April 6: New York, NY - Roseland Ballroom
April 8: Boston, MA - Citi Wang Theatre
April 10: Chicago, IL - Aragon Ballroom
April 11: Chicago, IL - Aragon Ballroom
April 14: Oakland, CA - Fox Theatre
April 15: Oakland, CA - Fox Theatre
