Tonight: Jim Gaffigan
Jim Gaffigan has done virtually everything a stand-up comedian who first broke in the '90s could do: He (briefly) had his own sitcom (Welcome To New York), he's been on Letterman and Conan countless times, and he's racked up a large number of memorable bit parts in TV shows (That '70s Show, Sex And The City) and character roles in films (Igby Goes Down, The Great New Wonderful). Yes, he's even reached that hallmark of comedic success, the Sierra Mist commercial. But if Gaffigan is a great comic actor, he's an excellent stand-up. Gaffigan's style is observational, but hyper-aware of his own mundanity—a combination that results in a hilarious, whispering "inner voice" that comments on his act throughout the show.
Jim Gaffigan plays the Star Plaza Theatre Aug. 23 at 7 and 10pm.
