Now that swine flu fever has broken, chefs are out digging for truffles again. Vie will host a black truffle dinner Feb. 3 that is sure to blow your house down: The French fungus will star in the one-night-only special tasting feast, beginning with an Edelweiss Creamery emmenthaler fondue and black truffle carpaccio amuse. A throne at the table is $210, with a wine pairing option for an additional $50.
If shrooming isn’t your thing, drink for a worthy cause. Bars in the Rush-and-Division area of the Gold Coast will be serving up "Haiti-Ade" this weekend. The $6.50 blend of Kraken rum and cranberry and orange juices will be poured at 10 different bars; all proceeds will go directly to the American Red Cross.
