Newswire UPDATE: Green Day, Lady Gaga, Soundgarden rumored to headline Lollapalooza

The annual "leak the Lollapalooza headliners a month in advance" news has arrived a few weeks earlier this year: The Daily Swarm reports that Green Day, Lady Gaga, and newly reunited Soundgarden will top the bill for the Chicago festival, set for August 6-8 in Grant Park. While we can expect three more headliners to round out the lineup, the inclusion of Green Day and Soundgarden maintains the nostalgic spirit of previous Lollapaloozas, as head organizer Perry Farrell has plucked virtually every massively successful alt-rock act of the early-to-mid '90s as headliners (Jane's Addiction, Radiohead, Weezer, Pearl Jam, Rage Against The Machine, Red Hot Chili Peppers).

Early-bird tickets at $175 have sold out, but advanced three-day passes are expected to go sale in the spring. And on the Lollapalooza website you can still submit your top five bands to book for this year's festival. (Only one '90s alt-rock group left—c'mon Nirvana!)

UPDATE: Greg Kot at the Chicago Tribune reports that "negotiations are progressing" to book Arcade Fire and The Strokes. Kot also says the lineup will include Yeasayer, The xx, Dirty Projectors, Cut Copy, and Hot Chip.
