UPDATE: Pitchfork Music Festival set for July 16-18, Pavement will headline
According to a press release, dates for the 5th annual Pitchfork Music Festival are July 16-18 in Chicago's Union Park. The first round of bands will be announced on Friday when tickets go on sale at pitchforkmusicfestival.com. This year's rates: Single-day passes for $40, three-day passes for $90.
While no acts have been announced thus far (perhaps they'll address the Pavement rumors right off the bat?), organizers promise a "longer first day of music" this year. It appears the festival's number of Friday slots, which traditionally have been reserved for three or four bands to play extended sets, will increase to beef up the lineup.
UPDATE: Greg Kot at the Chicago Tribune reports that Pavement and St. Vincent will be among those announced on Friday.
