Vampire Weekend announces North American tour
Not only did Vampire Weekend manage to pry itself from the local J.Crew long enough to record Contra, the follow-up to its 2008 self-titled debut, the preppy indie-pop quartet just announced an extensive North American tour, Pitchfork reports, with the band swinging through Chicago on March 25 at Riviera Theater. The band plans to be mighty busy until then, with three January shows in New York and a 19-date European tour afterward before heading back to the States in the spring. While Contra officially drops on Jan. 12, the band has taken the now standard "nobody's going to buy it anyway" approach by streaming the whole damn album on its MySpace page.
