The best of this weekend:

FRIDAY

Are you sitting around thinking about what you should do with your weekend? You have absolutely no excuse. Lollapalooza is here, along with a smattering of after-parties, but there are also non-Lolla events to be had. Head over to the Lakeshore Theater, for example, to see dysfunctional comedian Maria Bamford, whose endless parade of fucked-up impressions will delight all and terrify many. Or if you like your funny a little more A.V. Club-flavored, visit the Hideout for The Interview Show, where Red Eye's Mark Bazer will interview The A.V. Club Head Writer Nathan Rabin and Mexican-chef extraordinaire Rick Bayless. In the meantime, here's "Never Let Me Down Again" from Lollapalooza Friday headliner Depeche Mode:

SATURDAY

Lollapalooza’s attack of after-shows continue today, but what else is going on? There's Wilco frontman and hometown troubadour Jeff Tweedy sharing the stage at the Emanuel Congregation with The Colbert Report writer Peter Grosz, who will perform some stand-up. And hey, you, aspiring electronic musician! Looking for a new instrument or children’s-toy-electronically-warped-into-an-instrument? Head to the Experimental Garage Sale to pick up some truly weird circuit-bent instruments and gear. And are Fleet Foxes, The Raveonettes, and Dan Auerbach just too, well, relevant for you at Lolla? Then head to the Vic for some mainstream "alternative rock" with American Idol’s Daughtry. Still prefer Fleet Foxes? Here's their song "Mykonos":

SUNDAY

Lollapalooza's stranglehold on Grant Park ends tonight with Jane's Addiction and The Killers, and as usual, there are some great after-shows going on. But one of the smaller, more unexpected shows in the city tonight is going on at Permanent Records with Brooklyn's lo-fi champions Woods. Plus, the show is free. For a much bigger display of rock 'n' roll, albeit much edgier rock 'n' roll, head to the House Of Blues and catch '80s horror-punk heroes The Misfits. If the music portion of this weekend's activities have been strenuous, Why not head to the Brew And View for a double feature of sci-fi classics (and beer) with Star Trek and Spaceballs? Here's a trailer of the Mel Brooks (kind of) classic:
