Contest Win tickets to Denison Witmer or Damon And Naomi

Damon And Naomi

Sleepyhead alterna-kids have a choice to make on Friday May 27, and The A.V. Club is prepared to make that decision a little harder with a set of free tickets for Denison Witmer at Schubas or Damon And Naomi at Lincoln Hall. To win one of the two, e-mail ochicago@theonion.com with either “Denison Witmer” or “Damon And Naomi” in the subject line.

Dreamy songwriter Denison Witmer has been putting out lovely finger picking acoustic records for the past 15 years. The long-standing BFF and musical accomplice of both Sufjan Stevens and Rosie Thomas has just released his 13th release, The Ones Who Wait, which showcases a spookier, darker vibe than its uplifting predecessor Are You A Dreamer. Hector Anchondo opens.

After the collapse of late-’80s shoegazers Galaxie 500, members Damon Krukowski and Naomi Yang created the dream-pop duo aptly named Damon And Naomi, featuring quiet, vocally driven songs that’ll probably get fans bobbing their heads—a little. Since formation, the two have released 10 albums—including 2011’s False Beats And True Hearts—started record label 20-20-20, and founded their avant-garde publishing house, Exact Change. Amor De Días opens.
