Win tickets to see Akron/Family at The Hideout
To kick off the new year, The A.V. Club, in collaboration with The Hideout, is giving away tickets to see Akron/Family. The group plays the Chicago venue Jan. 17. To win tickets, e-mail ochicago@theonion.com with “Akron/Family” in the subject line.
Formed in 2002, Akron/Family became one of the coolest bands around with the use of the glockenspiel on its debut album. The experimental band’s versatility has proven to be its driving force, sustaining through six studio albums and many unique live performances. The group’s songs range in tone from early Animal Collective-esque tribal to lonely piano ballads, but through all the influences, Akron/Family remains primarily a folk band. The band’s newest album, Akron/Family II, dropped in February of last year.
