This by no means is a stamp of approval for dreadlock wigs, fake Jamaican drawls, and smoking your body weight in pot—rather, consider it a nice time to enjoy tunes from Black Uhuru and DJ Slacky J. Black Uhuru, the Swahili word for “freedom,” won the first Grammy in the category of reggae with its song “What Is Life?” It should be interesting to see the evolution of the genre from Black Uhuru’s legendary days to more modern artists like local Slacky J consolidated into one night.
