Win tickets to see Elf Power at Schubas Sept. 28
Elf Power comes to Schubas Sept. 28 and The A.V. Club is giving away a pair of tickets for the show. All those interested should email ochicago@theonion.com, making sure to include the words “Elf Power” in the subject line. A winner will be drawn Sept. 24.
Elf Power formed 16 years ago in Athens, Georgia. Since then, it has released ten albums, two EPs, and toured America, Europe, and Japan. Its tenth and most recent album is, in many ways, a reflection on its career thus far. First, it serves as a testament to the band’s longevity and importance to the psych-rock genre that they helped develop in the ’90’s. Second, it is dedicated to the Elves’ long-time friend and collaborator, Vic Chestnutt, who committed suicide in 2009. Despite its tragic influence, the album maintains the upbeat rock vibe that has become an Elf Power trademark over the years.
