Win tickets to see Joe Pug at Metro Oct. 16
Joe Pug folks out the Metro Oct. 16 and The A.V. Club is giving away a pair of tickets for the show. Anyone interested should e-mail ochicago@theonion.com and include “Joe Pug” in the subject line. A winner will be drawn Oct. 15.
Immediately upon realizing how unhappy he was as a playwright student at the University of North Carolina, Joe Pug packed up his things and drove straight home to Chicago. Joe worked as a carpenter by day and learned how to play the guitar that had been untouched since he was a teenager by night. Since then, he’s put out two EPs and toured with folk rockers Steve Earle and M. Ward. Joe Pug’s woodsy folk sound is soft and slow, with lyrics heavy with the weight of a guy who has figured out some of the ugly truths of life.
