Contest Win tickets to see Joyful Noise early and for free

Leave it to Dolly to get a fitted choir robe.

Two gospel divas, both alike in dignity (in fair Pacashau, Georgia, where we lay our scene), bring new meaning to the term “spiritual warfare” in Todd Graff's church-choir comedy Joyful Noise. Though this a chapel choir-fest of epic proportions won’t reach theaters nationwide until Jan. 13, readers of The A.V. Club readers can reserve tickets to a special advance screening on Wednesday, Jan. 11, at 7 p.m. at AMC Loews 600 N. Michigan.

Buttoned-up church choir director Vi Rose Hill (Queen Latifah) wants to keep the Sacred Divinity Church Choir sounding reverent and angelic, while spunky, free-wheeling choir member G.G. Sparrow (Dolly Parton) has other, funkier plans. With the National Joyful Noise Competition coming up, the two hard-headed women must either hug it out or slug it out. And to complicate things further, G.G.’s bad-boy grandson Randy (Jeremy Jordan) has the hots for Vi Rose’s talented daughter Olivia (Keke Palmer).

Sparks fly, feathers ruffle, and the Dolly-Parton-plastic-surgery jabs come at breakneck speed—not to mention star Jeremy Jordan will be on location at the Jan. 11 screening. So be sure to reserve tickets today at Gofobo. Two tickets can be downloaded per e-mail address.
