Woodward will playing with Mia LeBlon at Lincoln Hall Aug. 11, while The Ettes will be playing with Heavy Cream and Hans Condor at Schubas Aug. 10. Lucy Woodward was born to musicologists in England, but soon moved to Amsterdam, and then finally settled in the Bronx after her parents divorced. She began singing professionally at 16, and lent her voice to several commercials and cover bands. These days, she performs her own compositions in a decidedly jazzy pop style. Her most recent album, Hooked, was released last year.
The Ettes, a Nashville band by way of Los Angeles, have amassed a pretty solid track record since forming in 2004. The group has toured with everyone from The Black Keys and Kings Of Leon to the New York Dolls and Jay Reatard. The Ettes’ garage-rock sound has been critically praised, and the band’s next album, Wicked Will, will be released Aug. 2.
