Win tickets to see Nurses or Moonface for free
Nurses
Want the chance to rock out for free? The A.V. Club is giving away tickets to see Nurses at Schubas Saturday, Oct. 22 or Moonface Wednesday, Oct. 26 at Lincoln Hall. To enter to win, e-mail ochicago@theonion.com with either “Nurses” or “Moonface” in the subject line.
Nurses, the Portland-based psychedelic trio, released their new album, Dracula, this year. Despite the gruesome title, the record an easy listen, filled with breezy songs. “Fever Dreams” sounds nothing like a vampire nightmare, but rather an upbeat, completely dance-worthy piece of pop rock in the vein of Animal Collective.
Moonface is the solo project of Spencer Krug of Wolf Parade and Sunset Rubdown. Krug released his first album since Wolf Parade went on hiatus this year, confusingly titled Organ Music Not Vibraphone Like I’d Hoped. Only five songs long, the summer release rings true as one of Krug’s own with grandiose lyrics and experimental sampling.
