Did this year’s Grammy Awards make you feel confused, concerned, and scared? Were you one of those people who Tweeted something like “Who the F is Bonny Bear,” or wondered what the guy with the mouse head was supposed to be doing?
If your lack of knowledge regarding the world of popular music worries you, fret not. A bunch of up-and-coming artists are performing in Chicago this month, and The A.V. Club wants to help beef up your indie cred by sending you for free.
To win tickets to see Polica with Marijuana Death Squads and Total Fucking Blood Feb. 29 at Lincoln Hall, send an e-mail to ochicago@theonion.com with the subject line “Polica.” To win tickets to see Crocodiles with Bleeding Rainbow Feb. 25 at Schubas, send an e-mail to ochicago@theonion.com with “Crocodiles” in the subject line.
Polica, an Auto-Tuned electro-pop project sharing members with Roma Di Luna and Gayngs, is currently garnering a lot of buzz for its debut release, Give You The Ghost. Polica’s softer sounds will be contrasted by the noisier work of Marijuana Death Squad and Total Fucking Blood during a 21+ show starting at 9 p.m.
Crocodiles, who released sophomore album Sleep Forever on Fat Possum in 2010, play patient garage rock soaked in reverb, and will be joined by lo-fi pop group Bleeding Rainbow for a 21+ show starting at 10 p.m.
