Contest Win tickets to see Tennis or Southeast Engine

Noah Rabinowitz Southeast Engine

The A.V. Club has some tickets to a few upcoming shows to distribute among the deserving masses. First up is Southeast Engine with Royal Pines at Schubas on Saturday, Feb. 19. The second show is Tennis with Holiday Shores and Porcelain Raft at Lincoln Hall on Tuesday, Feb. 22. For your shot at a golden ticket, email ochicago@theonion.com with either “Southeast Engine” or “Tennis” in the subject line. Please make sure to include your full name in the body of the message.

Southeast Engine is an indie folk-rock band hailing from Athens, Ohio. The band released its first album in 2003 and most recently received critical praise for 2009’s From The Forest To The Sea. Its latest record, Canary, is due out this March.

The married Denver duo performing under the moniker Tennis have found that its Brian Wilson-meets-Daniel Johnston lo-fi pop has an even broader appeal than ever imagined. MP3s of the duo’s songs have turned up on Pitchfork, Gorilla Vs. Bear, and scores of other national outlets. All that attention led to a deal with Fat Possum, and the act’s debut full-length, Cape Dory, arrived in January to generally positive reviews.
