Win tickets to see The Eternals or Big Gigantic
Big Gigantic, apparently ready to play racquetball.
The A.V. Club has tickets to a couple of shows to give away, so read on, music lovers. The first show is The Eternals’ record release party, which will also feature Bedfellows, on Friday, Feb. 11 at Schubas. The second is Big Gigantic with Kraddy Saturday, Feb. 12 at Lincoln Hall. To get in on the action for either of these shows, e-mail ochicago@theonion.com with either “The Eternals” or “Big Gigantic” in the subject line.
The Eternals emerged from Chicago’s no-wave punk scene of the late ’90s and have been producing bizarre beats ever since. Their synthetic tracks often feel like a cross between circus music and something out of a bad, futuristic ’80s movie, but nevertheless, their dedicated fan base has stuck by them for over a decade. The show at Schubas will celebrate the release of their fourth album, Approaching The Energy Field.
Hailing from Boulder Colorado, Big Gigantic has been pumping out electronic dance tracks since 2008. The group has separated itself from the rest of the electronic scene by combining the traditional electronic sound with definite jazz tones, to interesting effect. The group is currently touring and promoting A Place Behind the Moon, which was released in September 2010.
