The A.V. Club has tickets to give away to two shows at Metro. On Nov. 17, there will be blood, sweat, and brutality, which could only mean that the rockers in Suicidal Tendencies will be performing songs from their best-selling albums Join The Army and Feel Like Shit...Déjà Vu. Also performing are (hed) P.e. and Death Before Dishonor. On Nov. 19, Ariel Pink’s Haunted Graffiti, along with Os Mutantes and Diva, satisfies those with anonymous AM radio fetishes. Interested parties should e-mail ochicago@theonion.com and include either “Suicidal Tendencies” or “Ariel Pink’s Haunted Graffiti” in the subject line. Please make sure to include a full name in the body of the message.

Despite starting off their careers by being voted “Worst Band/Biggest Assholes” in Flipside in 1982, “the fathers of crossover thrash,” Suicidal Tendencies are still here. At the time, Suicidal Tendencies’ 1983 release of their self-titled album was the best-selling hardcore album, and their video for “Institutionalizes” was one of the first hardcore punk videos to receive considerable airplay on MTV. As Suicidal Tendencies’ fan base grew, so did the rumors that the band had some involvement with gangs. Regardless, the band followed its self-titled album up four years later with Join the Army. After a collection of albums and a hiatus (or three), Suicidal Tendencies are said to be working on a new album.

Ariel Pink’s Haunted Graffiti is the beautifully fucked up, muddy, lo-fi creation of, not surprisingly, Ariel Pink. Warping the ghostly influences of David Bowie, Frank Zappa, Brian Eno, and the late Jay Reatard, Ariel Pink has created some pretty cool music. Ariel Pink’s first two albums The Doldrums and Vital Pink were burned on his home computer, but when the albums caught the attention of Animal Collective’s Paw Tracks label in 2004, Pink became the first non-Animal Collective project/member to land a record deal with Paw Tracks. Since then, Pink has released highly praised albums, House Arrest, Scared Famous, and this year’s Before Today.
