Win tickets to The Felice Brothers or Lake
The Felice Brothers
In the spirit of switching it up for a weekend away from the typical ear-blasting rock ’n’ roll scene and techno-filled clubs, The A.V. Club is giving away free tickets to dive into some soul-searching tunes by The Felice Brothers at Lincoln Hall or Lake at Schubas. To win tickets to see The Felice Brothers May 6 or Lake May 8, send an e-mail to ochicago@theonion.com with either “The Felice Brothers” or “Lake” in the subject line.
The Felice Brothers might look a bit out of place on Lincoln Hall’s stage—sporting mustaches that look like they belong in sepia-toned Polaroids. The band members fearlessly refuse to advance into the modern world; instead, they’ve learned to rock their folksy tunes on an old-school blend of harmonica, fiddle, and accordion. With songs about baseball, train stations, and chickens, The Felice Brothers are sure to evoke some weed-filled prairie even when they’re knee deep in high-tech sound equipment. Shovels And Rope will join The Felice Brothers with an addition to the “high-tech sound equipment”—a junkyard drum kit.
Or, end the weekend on a sweet note with Lake’s soothing performance. The indie quintet will take over the stage, less than a month after the release of its album Giving And Receiving, to deliver chill tunes that reflect the band’s name. It’s a perfect way to wind down a hectic week. Baby Teeth and Agesandages will also add their harmonies to the night’s performance.
