Contest Win tickets to Yacht or S. Carey

The lovely people at Lincoln Hall and Schubas have provided The A.V. Club with another set of tickets to give away in December. YACHT plays Lincoln Hall Dec. 6, and S. YACHT is the electro-pop duo of Claire L. Evans and Jona Bechtolt, former member of The Blow. Though YACHT began as Bechtolt’s solo project, the addition of Evan’s calm, low vocals helped push 2009’s See Mystery Lights to a new level, contrasting with the often jaunty sounds of synth. The duo’s most recent release, Shangri-La, dropped in June of this year.

Sean Carey, drummer and vocalist of Bon Iver, got his start, like Justin Vernon, in Wisconsin. It should come as no surprise, then, that Carey’s debut album, All We Grow, sounds very similar to work by Bon Iver. Breathy vocals and haunting acoustics appear throughout the record, evoking another kind of cabin-in-the-woods feeling that fits wintertime oh-so well.
