Apparently MTV has a channel geared toward starving college kids, which has its own awards show called the Woodies. Crazy, right?
Not so crazy, because the network has been around for years. What’s truly “cray” is that mtvU has just announced its first-ever Woodie tour headlined by Cali group Young The Giant. And guess where this tour kicks off? Right here in Chicago at the Riviera Theatre Feb. 23.
Since a star-making performance at last year’s MTV Video Music Awards, the band has enjoyed a sizable boost in the all-important YouTube viewership. If over 3 million tweenie boppers ask to be “thumbs up-ed” for viewing a music video in 2012, a band has arrived.
