The main problem with 2008's Black Ice—AC/DC's 17th studio release and its first in eight years—was its incessant marketing blitz; Walmart set up huge displays devoted entirely to the album, and MTV created disposable "AC/DC Rock Band Stores" to cross-promote the band's involvement in the video-game series. Best to remember the Aussies for the music, and remind the younger fans, too. Despite peaking commercially in the late '70s/early '80s with Highway To Hell and Back In Black, AC/DC has been steadily cranking out triumphant hits—even if all the songs ring familiar. Black Ice is no different, largely a conduit for a clothesline of elaborate, adrenaline-filled riffs and caterwauling vocals.
