The Airborne Toxic Event has built up a significant buzz by marrying the confessional literacy of Bright Eyes with the post-new-wave dance-ability of Franz Ferdinand. Island Records certainly sees potential in the band, re-releasing its debut in 2009 as well as a follow-up, the Happiness Is Overrated EP. The latter features the titular highlight from the band’s debut, along with session recordings of “Something New” and “Sometime Around Midnight” (a favorite of U2 bassist Adam Clayton). As the group finishes up its second record this fall, it keeps the fires burning with All I Ever Wanted: Live From Walt Disney Concert Hall, a documentary capturing last year’s big “nontraditional” show featuring a children’s choir, high school marching band, visual artists, traditional Mexican folkórico dancers, and the Calder String Quartet (which will accompany Airborne at this show).
