Natalia Zukerman may not have the grittiest voice on the acoustic singer-songwriter circuit, but the real range is in her guitar work. She's handy with a slide and a dobro, bringing equal grace to bottleneck blues riffs and flickering folk-jazz melodies. So who better to produce her most recent album, Brand New Frame, than Willy Porter, another gentle soul who knows his way around a guitar? Porter tastefully figures some drums and keys into Zukerman's sound, as if acknowledging that she's just as good when left with just voice and guitar.
