Arlo Guthrie at McAnich Arts Center at College of DuPage
Though Arlo Guthrie's best-loved hits (like "Alice's Restaurant") might not enjoy quite the same timeless status his father Woody's work does, he has his own way with a story and a joke, and is gracious about trying to keep it in the family. He returns here on the "Guthrie Family Rides Again" tour, on which his grown children and even some grandkids will join him. The family's performance will dig into Arlo's catalog, but also continue his sister Nora's project of setting music to unused but complete Woody Guthrie lyrics (Nora got Billy Bragg and Wilco to do this to great effect on 1998's Mermaid Avenue), perhaps opening yet more windows into his father's work.
