Taking the Bible at its extremely literal word, The Best Church Of God is a holy spoof of those who think the Lord wants them to hate homosexuals because it vaguely says so in one outdated passage. (Why don't they also hate figs, which is in the Bible too?) The comics at the helm have done their homework, so no stone is left unturned. Pastor Dave delivers mock sermons; Miss Cindy Sunday leads the congregation through a song containing the lyrics “This is the Best Church Of God / the only church God goes to”; and Brother Henry’s “End-Times Report” spells out mankind’s inevitable, hilarious doom. The weekly Sunday shows are always free, though donations, in traditional church fashion, are pretty much required.
