Bicycle Film Festival at Columbia College - Film Row Cinema
As the name implies, the Bicycle Film Fest cinematically celebrates the children of the velocipede, and has grown into a cross-country touring affair, this year bringing 36 short films and six features to 39 cities—all sharing the theme of biking. The film portion of the long weekend (there's also a music portion and a scavenger hunt) kicks off with Where Are You Go, a road doc of sorts capturing a group participating in the Tour d' Afrique, a race that finds them everywhere between Egypt and South Africa. The fest also continues tomorrow with, among other things, a collection of Urban Bike Shorts that includes "The Messenger's Creed"—words to live by, fair bike messengers. For complete event details, see the official website at bicyclefilmfestival.com.
