In August, Wicker Park staple Brainstorm Movies, Comics, & Gaming announced via its MySpace page that the store would be closing its doors Oct. 4 due to the recession. Thankfully, that didn't happen; four customers became partial investors, swiftly saving the store. Before this news, the store's staff had organized this benefit show at Subterranean, featuring musical acts who shop at Brainstorm, including local hip-hop artist Cochise Soulstar. The money raised will further benefit the store, hopefully saving it from similar hiccups in the future.
