The members of Bullet For My Valentine obviously grew up loving both the fleet-fingered axe-slingers on Headbangers Ball and the growly, plaid-shirted grungesters on Alternative Nation. As with the band’s past albums, this year’s Fever mixes heavy riffs and double-bass pedaling with emo-style dynamics and sort-of menacing lyrics about a hardened existence. Though the act embodies everything lame and bankrupt about the current too-tough-to-be-emo scene, it’d probably take as a compliment its probable future status as the glam-metal trash of the ’00s.
