Bully In The Hallway + K Church (J Church Tribute) at Ronny's

The long, storied career of Lance Hahn ended in October of 2007, when he died after a long illness. Although barely 40, Hahn left considerable body of work, particularly with his long-running pop-punk outfit, J Church. (At last count, it was seven full-lengths, four singles' compilations, two split albums, more than 30 singles, roughly 25 split singles, and nine "miscellaneous" full-lengths—all of them made in a period from 1991 to 2007.) To celebrate his life, as well the work of J Church—easily one of the finest bands to emerge from the Bay Area in the '90s—Chicago band Hirudin is reuniting after a three-year layoff as a tribute band, K Church. (Full disclosure: A.V. Club Associate Editor Kyle Ryan played in Hirudin.) Headlining this show, which benefits the National Foundation For Transplants, is Bully In The Hallway, another local outfit that specializes in aggressive, melodic punk that should sync well with the J Church songs being spotlighted here.
