The Cab and The Summer Set at Bottom Lounge
What is it about sing-along pop-punk that is so appealing to high-schoolers and lovers of scripted teen dramas? Maybe it’s the swooshy-haired dreamboats that usually front these bands, or the angst-filled anthems that fill out the choruses, or (most likely) it’s because members of bands like The Cab are barely out of high school themselves. That sort of youthful rapport, along with catchy verse-chorus-verse songwriting, makes for instant popularity among the tween and teen sect. The Cab, which received a fair amount of positive press even before it released its 2008 debut Whisper War, sounds a lot like its predecessors/peers Panic At The Disco and Fall Out Boy. Which shouldn’t be all that surprising, as members from both bands made guest appearances on the record.
