http://www.schubas.com/ Chris Shiflett, Ari Shine, and Adam Bones at Schubas

Prior to joining Foo Fighters more than a decade ago, Chris Shiflett was a journeyman guitarist in the California punk scene, playing in bands like No Use For A Name and Me First And The Gimme Gimmes. But his fortunes changed once the call came from Dave Grohl, and Foo Fighters have kept Shiflett busy ever since. With that band taking some time off, Shiflett has ventured out on his own, under the guise of Chris Shiflett And The Dead Peasants, to release a self-titled debut. The twangy Americana and poppy hooks make for easy comparisons to Old 97's, and like that band, Shiflett occasionally takes a turn for the cheesy. But it's a pleasant, assured album that shows a welcome new side to Shiflett as a musician.
