A godlike savior to his fans and a baffling pussy to his detractors, Dashboard Confessional frontman Chris Carrabba has been a polarizing figure since the "Screaming Infidelities" video introduced him to the world in 2002, and his new album, Alter The Ending, will do nothing to change that dynamic. Dashboard loyalists will find comfort listening to Carrabba alternate between whispering and passionate wailing, linking emotional lyrics with pop sensibilities, while others will continue to hear Carrabba's voice and shudder at the shrillness. Perhaps this solo acoustic tour will strip away the overproduced gleam that often plagues Ending. Expect it to be a little nuts, as Subterranean is a huge step down in capacity from the venues Carrabba usually plays. Also unplugging is New Found Glory, who'll try to translate its saccharine punk pop into the acoustic format.
