As DJ Kid Color, Kyle Woods is the quintessential scenester, laying down disco beats at half the turntable hotspots in town. After moving here from Southern California in 2007, he was mentored by the Dark Wave Disco promoters and ultimately landed steady dance party gigs and a Sunday night residency at Smart Bar. His high-energy, funky style put him in super tight with all of Chicago’s 24-hour party people, and he’s also opened for everyone from A-Trak to Vampire Weekend. That wider audience must have dug it, because Kid Color hit the ones and twos at Lollapalooza in 2009, and has been making high-profile remixes and mix tapes ever since.
