None English Dogs, The Casualties, Toxic Holocaust, and Havok at Reggie's Rock Club

Like some weird Amish sect, there’s a subset of the punk community that strictly adheres to the style and sound of ’77, essentially ignoring the past 25 years. They’re easy to spot: Look for mohawks, dyed hair, chains, spikes, safety pins, and intricately decorated leather jackets. The Casualties fit the profile. The band plays straightforward street punk that covers the usual themes, and couldn’t be more reductive or limited for people who know punk history. (Case in point: The number of online reviews of the new We Are All We Have that are stunned by the appearance of a reggae-influenced song, as if that's a major innovation.) But there are always kids experiencing it for the first time—like the huge crowds that watched The Casualties on their 2006 Warped Tour appearances.
