Field Music and The Clientele at Lincoln Hall
Baroque pop outfit Field Music turned in a set of off-kilter tunes with its 2005 debut self-titled album and 2007's Tones Of Town, two records that hardly set the indie world on fire but nonetheless quietly and consistently rewarded those who warmed to their charms. With ornamental strings, perky percussion tricks, and offbeat harmonies, Field Music songs answer to unpredictable structures. And within them all lie lush Brit-pop melodies, never allowing the dainty violins or harpsichord to overtake hints of inherent rocking. Field Music plays here behind Measure, a new 20-song album out on the label Memphis Industries.
