George Clinton & Parliament Funkadelic at Cubby Bear

There isn't any part of George Clinton and his Parliament Funkadelic collective that doesn't strive to either catch your attention or make your ass jiggle, a stylistic decision that has kept Clinton and his posse grooving for four decades. Whether it's album titles like The Clones Of Dr. Funkenstein, the unrelentingly gaudy live show, or just Clinton himself, whose multi-colored dreadlocks are essentially the royal crown of funkdom, it's impossible to look at the spectacle that is P-Funk and think, "Eh, not very interesting." While the funkmaster has only released a smattering of new albums in the past decade (most recently 2008's lackluster cover album George Clinton And His Gangsters Of Love), he's made enough contributions to music—inventing an entirely new culture of funk, for one—to be given leeway in his twilight years.
