http://www.ticketweb.com/snl/VenueListings.action?venueId=10103 High Places, Wooden Shjips, Julian Lynch, and Ahleuchatistas at Empty Bottle

High Places exist in their own world of organic, experimental electronica. The sampler-savvy Rob Barber builds watery soundscapes for vocalist Mary Pearson’s layered nursery-rhyme memes to float over, creating songs that induce hazy sleep as much as they move feet. Transplanted to Los Angeles from Brooklyn, the earthy duo released High Places Vs. Mankind in 2010, a dreamy, foggy second effort that is insanely tripped out and endlessly fascinating. Wooden Shjips draws on lo-fi garage rock and Bay Area psychedelia to produce a sound that is both archaic and devotedly nostalgic. On its latest, Dos, the band combines the tight drumming, wobbly organ and sheets of loud, feedback-heavy guitar that made its self-titled debut. Opener “Motorbike” has a Stooges swagger, and there's even a Led Zeppelin stomp on “Down By The Sea.”
