Lookingglass Theatre’s reinterpretations of classic stories have been hit or miss: Alice was a visually stunning and boundlessly playful imagining of Alice In Wonderland while this season’s Fedra was—well, the less said about Fedra the better. Luckily, Icarus looks to be more like the former, with Alice writer and director David Catlin charged with telling the tale of the boy whose father crafted him a pair of wings that would lead to his tragic demise. Acrobatics are sure to be a big part of the production, and if there’s one thing Lookingglass does well, it's flinging actors up in the air and twirling them around. Hopefully Lookingglass' second attempt at Greek mythology this season is better than its last. (Closes Jan. 24)
