J+J+J's dorkily unpretentious music could be indicative of a growing musical undercurrent in which twee pop, art-school rock, and bedroom-podcast narcissism meet. The trio mixes sugary-sweet innocence with electronic savvy and nutty, anime-inspired hooks on its debut, They Hump While We Go Nuts, and again on the new High Voltage Feast. In keeping with the group's zest for electronics, Feast gets released at this show on a "limited-edition credit-card sized" USB drive decorated by local designer Jana Kinsman. Don't let all the gadgetry fool you: J+J+J are unmistakably human, as even the most sophisticated computer could never sequence something so shamelessly saccharine and adorable.
