Lollapalooza: Depeche Mode + Kings Of Leon, The Knux, A-Trak, Of Montreal, The Gaslight Anthem, The Decemberists, Andrew Bird at Grant Park
Generally speaking, the final bands on a major festival's last night tend to be the main attractions, but Friday at Lollapalooza is no slouch. It's hard to find fault with Friday night's headliners, '80s electronic-pop masters Depeche Mode and Southern rockers Kings Of Leon, playing nearly two hours apiece on different stages simultaneously. (Unless, of course, you're a hardcore fan of both.) Peppered throughout the day are plenty of bands that are worth braving festival madness for: New Orleans-via-Hollywood hip-hop duo The Knux, former Kanye West turntablist A-Trak, electro-pop weirdoes Of Montreal, the Springsteenian Gaslight Anthem, the story-driven The Decemberists, and singer-songwriter/violin virtuoso Andrew Bird.
