Swedish band Miike Snow makes experimental pop, which to say it writes hook-laden songs and then promptly deconstructs them. Some of the tracks from Miike Snow’s 2009 self-titled debut sound straight from the discotheque, but many others fracture into something far more ambient and unsettling. Those left turns might unnerve, but they also create a rich palette for remixes from top-notch producers like Mark Ronson—a game the band itself has recently gotten into, putting its own spin on tracks by Passion Pit, Peter Bjorn And John, and Vampire Weekend.
