Phish reunited earlier this year (which produced a new LP, Joy, out earlier this month), but the years-long lull between gigs wasn’t a silent one. Each of the members went about his own other projects, and among the more prolific was Mike Gordon, the jam band’s buoyant bassist. He toured with the experimentalists in Benevento-Russo Duo, recorded an album with master fingerpicker Leo Kottke, and managed to take his own band around the country last year in support of his latest album, The Green Sparrow. He returns to Chicago on the heels of a whirlwind Phish summer tour, so expect a return to his own tunes.
