Misfits stuck to their own path during their ’80s heyday, playing horrific yet catchy punk rock heavy on the B-movie references and face paint. With the Misfits’ original leader, Glenn Danzig, long out of the picture due to a lawsuit, remaining members Jerry Only and Robo—along with guitarist Dez Cadena, who played with Robo in Black Flag—have not-so-effectively zombified the band’s corpse. With Only taking over lead vocal duties, the absence of a compelling, Danzig-like frontman is palpable, but it’s almost worth enduring just to hear Cadena lead the band through an obligatory handful of Flag classics.
