Motion City Soundtrack and Ultimate Fakebook at Lincoln Hall
Twin Cities rockers Motion City Soundtrack seem to have studied the art of the mindlessly fun pop song. Lead singer Justin Pierre may dwell on his tattered little heart from time to time; but the band's bread and butter is the sugary, singable chorus, and the quintet couldn't have chosen better producers to represent that aim on 2007's Even If It Kills Me than Fountains Of Wayne bassist Adam Schlesinger and The Cars frontman Ric Ocasek (Girls Against Boys bassist Eli Janney also co-produced with Schlesinger), neither of whom shy away from MCS's Moog-heavy pop anthems. With a fourth record coming in January called My Dinosaur Life (produced by Blink-182's Mark Hoppus), the band will use this three-night stint at Lincoln Hall to recap its history, playing its previous three albums in their entirety over the course of the stay, starting on Friday with the band's fun-loving 2003 debut, I Am The Movie.
